Runaway the movie - Kanye West

The debut of Kanye West’s 35-minute music video/movie for “Runaway,” an epic in the tradition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The movie is a collection of music tracks preformed with a super-natural-like story line.

A Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. “Runaway” stars Kanye West alongside Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, as an odd couple who meet when K.W. runs over the model–a winged phoenix creature similar to the one featured in his “controversial” album cover.
After rescuing the creature from the car crash and explosion, he tries to embrace her and introduce her to his world, where others do not welcome her. “You know what I hate about your world?” asks the mysterious creature, “Anything that is different you try to change, you try to tear it down.”

Directed by Kanye West, “Runaway” is none-too-subtle in its aim of criticizing people for being reluctant to embrace new things and for being closed-minded.

“Runaway” is not the only Kanye West song presented in the mini-movie, but it is the one that gets the best, most focused performance sequence and, it is the album’s stand out track.
Kanye West does not forget to highlight fashion, fast cars and of course his extravagant stage setting, very much Kanye in his white tux, slim black pants and the moccasin like shoes.

It seems that there is no escaping from Kanye West; he is everywhere. Once in a while, some of the attention he gets is actually related to his music; this is one of those rare cases.

Then, Kanye West appeared in TV interviews promoting his new teeth made of diamonds and gold (insisting these are his teeth, not just removable grill). Why did he get diamond teeth? Because, as K.W. put it to Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, “that’s what rock stars do.”
